The Hispanic Club recently held an event at CEIBS at which Elisa Reyna introduced petuky.com, the social network for pet lovers. She explained her business model to some CEIBS students and guests students from EADA Business school. The venture is profitable, the social network was initially a platform to interact with other pet lovers. Now small pet shops can use the network as a way to advertise their products for free and professional partner shops do group buying, promote their businesses and sell products online. The revenue source is these professional shops, which are are listed on the website in exchange of a monthly fee.

She also spoke about her previous venture “pet a porter”. They are a brick and mortar chain in Spain that broke with the traditional concept of the dark, humid, dirty pet shop. Pret a porter enjoyed 60% profit margin and customers as David and Victoria Beckam and the Spanish royal family. She sold the business at the highest point because one of the investors wanted to push the business further and open many stores and she thought it was not a good idea. Pret a porter still exists and for her, it’s like visiting an ex boyfriend because they still have her picture in the shops and her biography on the website.
